The Science Of Squidoo

I learned to Squidoo in 2008 when I joined Squidoo. It's been a long and perilous journey, often fraught with danger and fatigue. Well, not really. But it has been an interesting journey. Every once in a while I drop out for a couple of years, then I drop back the other way.

I only had 3 or 4 lenses the first couple of years. And I tend to build lenses much slower than most people. I enjoy the updating opportunities that Squidoo requires because nothing is written in stone. Web pages must be updated to stay in the ratings; they become living things.

Ok then.

Sweet Oblivion - My First Four Lenses

I did not know one thing about building web pages when I started to use Squidoo. So I just took an idea and ran with it.

May 2008 through March 2009, I turned out four lenses only.

Baby Steps For Baby

Do you know what you are doing?

1. Check out other lenses.

2. Edit - Repeatedly. Often. Unending.

3. Compare. See # 1.

Things change. Keep it tight looking, if you have a sales module that is blank or messed up, you won't know unless you see it or some nice person drops you a line. You have birthed a living thing, watch out for it.

Just like shampooing. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Disappear

I dropped out for a couple of years, many are the reasons, first a job, then no job. Then no computer, all hell. But I came back.

Not dead, but stronger? I don't know.

Reappear

When I came back after a couple of years, I found that my lenses had had mild popularity. And by that I mean they had both votes and visits.

So, with my fan base established, I started to study. I had to learn how to Squidoo properly. Study, study. Read, read. And experiment too.

Second Stab at Squidoo

March 2011 is my comeback date. It is now September 2013 and I have 56 lenses. Hah! And, once again, hah!

On October 27, 2013, I have 80 lenses. This is a big jump because of the new format with Amazon, much easier and shorter.

On November 24, 2013, I have 110 lenses.

November 2012 - 44 lenses

One more thing, I am now in the Giant Squid Club, first level, a Super Squid. This was bestowed upon me June 7, 2012. Hot damn in the morning! Now I am a second level Giant Squid on 11/23/13.

Squidoo has been sold to HubPages on 9/1/14. Yes!

My last Squidoo pay was on 10/13/2014. Squidoo is dead, long live Hubpages!

Squidlets Hither And Yon

It still hits me hard that Squidoo is gone. There was something decent and good about it, and I still miss it. It seems like old times and deja vu all at once.

Know this

Hubpages are not squids of any stripe!
